Benjamin Savonen / Co-Founder

Ben Savonen is a designer and engineer who has spent the last decade developing products and services for communities that have been ignored by global value chains. He holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Penn State. He has worked and lived in East Africa for 8 of the last 10 years, including 2+ years in Peace Corps Tanzania, and work with Field Ready, the World Bank, Penn State, and Michigan Tech. He is fluent in Swahili, a swimmer, and chooses beans and rice. Ben manages Kijenzi’s Kenya operations.
